  One of the most legendary musicals of the American musical theater, LADY IN THE DARK - with a book by Moss Hart, music by Kurt Weill, and lyrics by Ira Gershwin - premiered on Broadway in 1941. This critically acclaimed TV production was praised by The New York Times as "real theatre. It had vitality, it had mood and it had illusion - all the way from start to finish." The excellent cast features Ann Sothern as Liza, with James Daly, Luella Gear, Sheppard Strudwick, and Carleton Carpenter. The show boasts one of Weill's greatest scores, including "The Saga of Jenny" and "My Ship." The DVD insert includes notes by bruce d. McClung, author of the prizing-winning book Lady in the Dark: Biography of a Musical.
