    A Johannes-Passion é mesmo de tirar o fôlego! Meu Deus, o coro inicial “Herr, unser Herrscher” é arrebatador! A orquestra nos envolve de uma forma que entramos naquele clima de uma tensão misteriosa que vai aumentando, aumentando, num ritmo marcante e, de repente, o corro explode como um trovão repetindo três vezes o “Herr”! Depois do celestial coro inicial, segue-se um recitativo com coro onde este atua respondendo com uma riquíssima polifonia “Jesum von Nazareth” duas vezes – o susto é inevitável com tanta beleza! O que dizer da magnífica ária “Von den Stricken meiner Sünden”? Nesta ária, Herr Bach exaltou divinamente os sopros! O contralto Hertha Töpper faz um belíssimo diálogo com eles, sempre dirigidos pelo grande Richter (DG). Da mesma ênfase o mestre emprega na ária para soprano “Ich folge dir gleschlagen”, sendo que com a flauta e um cintilante acompanhamento do órgão. E a riqueza monumental da ária para baixo e coro n.º 48? Os “Wohin?” do coro são impressionantes! E a majestade sombria do violoncelo solo na ária para contralto n.º 58 (onde a tristeza que Töpper expressa é notória) para a morte de Cristo? A sonoridade do que ouço na versão de Richter é simplesmente ímpar! Na sua versão, um dos maiores destaques é a amplitude e a riqueza do trabalho do órgão! E assim continua a obra... Definitivamente imbatível Herr Karl Richter nesta obra!
