  Loosely based on The Divine Comedy's first act, Dante's Inferno is a third-person action game starring Dante Alighieri: an Italian mercenary who journeys to hell itself to retrieve the love of his life, Beatrice. As he ventures into hell's nine circles, from limbo to treachery, Dante will engage demons and other ghastly creatures looking to end his heroic quest in gruesome fashion. To survive, Dante wields a massive scythe made of bone, Death's scythe, which has the ability to harvest souls from the damned. Dante can also channel holy powers from a cross bequeathed to him by Beatrice, and even tame some of the dark creatures he encounters during his dangerous descent. Dante will soon discover that he must atone for his past sins while preparing for his ultimate confrontation with fallen angel Lucifer. Dante's Inferno on PlayStation 3 features additional content not found on the Xbox 360 version.
